A major figure of Dutch design, Hella Jongerius likes to confront techniques in an unusual work. In search of new shapes, she is also interested in working with colour. Two of the legs of Porcupine are inclined as if to evoke the legs of an animal and this asymmetry is emphasized by an area of colour. Some of the screenprinted links on the top are perforated with small holes allowing coloured markers to be placed there, like the needles of a porcupine.
