From 1984 Philippe Starck began the decoration of the Café Costes in Paris. This armchair was created for this large café that quickly became a popular place for the chic and fashionable youth. If the design impressed for its theatrical staircase, its large clock and toilets in transparent glass, the tripod armchair incarnates, beyond function and comfort, the neo-modern aesthetic of the 1980s and pays tribute to Art Deco, as well as to a traditional club armchair.
