In 1954, Jean Prouvé won the competition for furnishing the dining rooms, the cafeteria and 148 student bedrooms at the Cité Universitaire Jean Zay in Antony. He adapted existing models of chairs and tables but also specially designed a model of chair in moulded plywood: the Antony lounge chair, the supple lines of which prove that economy of means and functionality of furniture take nothing away from formal interest.
