In France, the eighteenth century marked a watershed between the Ancien Regime and modernity, and as such was one of the richest periods in the country’s history. Boosted by economic progress and political stability, the art of living bloomed in France and was emulated by foreign courts. With this exhibition, we intend to present what is known as the “aristocratic art of living” and can be seen as representing a moment of perfection in French art. Few periods were as dazzling in terms of architecture, urbanism and garden design. This exhibition is an occasion to immerse the public into a parisian private mansion – an ideal setting in which to display the splendors of interior decoration.
