Sculpture “Body Undivided n°8”

Lawson Oyekan was born in London, grew up Nigeria and returned to London to study at the Saint-Martin’s School, and at the Royal College of Art. The issues of origins and diversity of cultures are at the heart of his work. His recurring message is that of the vital force of humanity, which he transforms by creating large organic pieces with walls written in English or Yoruba, like here, with scarifications done with a shark’s tooth.
